Fasting is a unique moral and spiritual characteristic of Islam. Literally defined, fasting means to abstain
"completely" from foods, drinks, intermate intercourse and smoking, before the break of the dawn till
sunset.
Time for fasting is in the month of Ramadhan. Fasting is compulsory because it is ordered in the Quran for
those who are mentally and physically fit. During fasting, the person should avoid doing things that could
break the fast and do more things that will them reward.
